HCG Secure Joins the Healthy Aging Coalition

HCG Secure is excited to have joined Tivity Health’s Healthy Aging Coalition. This coalition is working to improve the health and well-being of all Americans and includes a broad range of members from the worlds of academia, government, non-profit organizations, and other industry and issue-area experts.

HCG Secure is thrilled to be a member of the Healthy Aging Coalition and to be supporting efforts that raise awareness for the unique challenges faced by underserved communities and drive increased access to necessary care and supports allowing all Americans to live with dignity, health equity, and longevity.

Most recently, HCG Secure joined other coalition members in signing a letter to the Senate Finance Committee commenting on the Committee’s white paper from May, Bolstering Chronic Care through Physician Payment: Current Challenges and Policy Options in Medicare Part B. This white paper shows important effort and prioritization in policymaking to improve access to and affordability of care for those facing chronic conditions.

This commentary to the Senate Finance reaffirms the coalition’s support for measures that offer chronically ill patients better access, through supplemental benefits, to supports that address the social determinants of health – this includes exercise and nutritional support, community-building and social supports, stress and mental health management, and more. Such supports, currently available in some Medicare Advantage plans, should be further offered for Medicare part B beneficiaries to promote both better patient outcomes, as well as reduced costs. By promoting healthier lifestyles and offering MA beneficiaries specific means to pursue such ‘Lifestyle Medicine,’ chronic illnesses will be more easily managed, and ultimately afforded.

This commentary also encourages an expansion of the CHRONIC Care Act, such that both Fee-For-Service Medicare beneficiaries, alongside MA beneficiaries, are accessing the non-medical services supporting longevity and chronic condition management. Furthermore, the coalition recommends Alzheimer’s disease be included in the CHRONIC Care Act to improve early detection and treatment options for those facing cognitive decline.

HCG Secure looks forward to continued work and progress with the Healthy Aging Coalition, promoting a more healthy and equitable future for all Americans.
